An incredible educational tool. 

This show remains one of my favorites, not just because of melancholy, also for the incredible information that they taught us at the age in which we were looking for answers.This is the most interesting educational children's television show i ever seen. It was easy for them to get our attention because they were always solving doubts through experiments, and the way that they gave the information it was pretty creative.

One of the things that i learned and that i will never forget, is to know how many kilometers did a lighting fall, they said that, as light travels faster than sound, you will see first than you'll listen to it, so, as fast as you see the lighting you start counting and when you hear the thunder you stop, the number that you achieved is directly proportional to the number of kilometers that the lighting is far away. So every time i see a lighting i cant avoid the need to count to know the distance :).

This fact is for us, educational psychology students, very valuable because we are studying that meaningful learning is our goal, this is the only way that a knowledge will be useful in the future for our students. Actually, Sofia and i used some of beackaman's videos as tool for one of our class practices. The topic was Reflection and Refraction of light, we were so worried about how could we explain it to the kids, how could we give them this complicated information for them to understand it. So we decided to use beackman's world, we gave an introduction, made some reflective questions to make them construct a first step definition and then we saw the video, the result was amazing, we even didnt have the need to explain deeply the definitions, we only asked them to realize if they understand, and then we tell them why the information was necessary and useful for. Then we made some experiments and it was all done! They completly understand and actually they were having fun!! 

In summary, Beackman's world was an incredible educational show, that truly let something on children.

I wonder why dont we have more tv shows as good as this was?...

Today it's fairly common watching two-year old children playing with electronic devices, like their fathers cellphones or with the computer at home. Modern moms usually entertain them with t.v. in home, or with a videogame in a travel for distract them.

In my opinion, is rare for me to ask my little sister for an advice about electronics and gadgets, however, I’ve been watching new generations grow and how have they been changing so fast; this fact goes from my generation to the current one.

I believe that if we had an interesting history with smartly predecessors who made amazing things to get where we are, I can’t imagine why we can’t leave our mark on history and new generations aswell.

Its very intresting for me to know what is comming next, because our evolutive process is going too fast and I can’t wait to know what is going to happen when new generations get my age. I can’t imagine what kind of sons am I going to have, or how should I be as mom, because is going to be a huge challenge to be a new generation mom because of all the generation differences.

It is not because children are born with different abilities, we all have these skills but, the thing is that they develop them earlier than us. It’s Today its fairly common watching two-year old children playing with electronic devices well know that human beings don’t use 100% their brain power, and I believe that what is going on is just that new generations are exploiting it a little bit more. Now, what we need is to use these new advantages wisely to make a better world. Now, we need use to be better the abilities that we developed and make our world better.

Humor, Reality or Responsability?

We have all heard many jokes about the defects that we have as Mexicans; generalizing all the people in our country in a very wrong way.

Internationally we are known as people who live in extreme poverty, as ignorant, drunk, lazy, thieves, offenders, aggressive, and insensitive, people who live in a very unsafe context, full of corruption, and finally, in a place where the abuse of power is part of our lives.

Physically, it’s well known that we are ugly people.  On the one hand, Mexican men almost always have a moustache, are potbellied, dark-skinned, and with an explosive personality and no respect to women. They don’t like to work but they want to earn a lot of money, and they are always drunk as they go from one party to another.

On the other hand, women are pretty short, dark-skinned too, and with very few aspirations, ignorant and always devoted to the home and family, all which helps us to understand why the male chauvinist is so characteristic.

Most of the time, we find these ideas disguised as jokes that exaggerate those stereotypes, or in movies or television series which show representations of our culture that displays a third world point of view about us. For example, they are always showing us as a people who travel on very average urban transport, surrounded by chickens, through unpaved roads.

We can find this kind of funny, and sometimes we make jokes about ourselves, trying to be cheeky but is that really the image that we want the world to have about us?

I believe that it is our responsibility to make things change and to break all of those stereotypes that countries have about us, and to let them know our positive side, our solidarity and hard-working side, affectionate and brotherly; that side of us unknown to the world that is very important for us.

Also, we should be proud of our people, and of our ingenious ability to solve problems, because there is nothing that can stop us; we are a very practical people, which makes us special and unique.
