FORREST GUMP

            This is the one of my favorite movies, I recommend it very highly, and however, I believe that everyone has already seen it. Well, I would say that the reason that it ranks among my favorite movies, is the fact that the movie is based on a person with especial needs and it sends us a beautiful message that folks with those kinds of especial needs many times are able to achieve everything they dream of. They are able to focus their life goals in more practical simpler manner, than those of us deemed to be “normal”.

What is more interesting to me in this movie is the central theme that what really affects everything in life is the genuine and pure love between a mother and a son.  Forrest Gump understands that with genuine and pure love for life itself, he will be able to conquer any challenges that he may face. But, from the moviegoer’s “normal” perspective, he has many more obstacles in life due to his disability. At the same time, we are able to clearly feel how someone can live with so many life contradictions. W e learns, by paying close attention, that there is a very valuable lesson of survival for those of us with “normal” abilities.

Many times we let ourselves be guided by superficial observations of people around us. This movie forces us to understand that the true force and qualitative perception of things goes deeper and is more meaningful than what you see from the outside. Above all, as we see the true humbleness that is keenly shown by Forest Gump, that is synonymous with a great spirit. That’s the reason that many time we don’t even realize that we have met someone very special, willing to offer so much to us indeed, and we simply let them pass by in our lives.

We “normal” people don’t spend enough time to observe carefully our immediate surroundings, and that is a pity, because keen observation would allow us have more spiritual communion.  We would indeed keep alive the faith that we can live in a better world. A world in which not everyone is wrong, a world in which not every one wishes bad things to mankind, indeed, a world where not everything is hopeless.

This movie makes you feel that as long as you try with all your might, you can reach all your goals, and that you can overcome any other challenges that you may face happily. The movie achieves its goal of humanizing us. That   quality of life that sadly has been quickly disappearing, and which is the central cause of the grave problem we all suffer today.
