1984 is a book that i read one year ago.
This book made me realize that Im lucky of having freedon expession. One
teacher that I used to have recomended this book because we were talking about
facebook and privacy in the future.
This book was written a long time ago (like
1940). his writer george orwell imagined the world around 1984. This is a
really good novel of science fiction.
im not going to tell you the history
because i think that is a very good book that deserves to be read, specially
for we (young people) to have an idea of the possibilities of the technology,
and where it can take us when it combine with political interests.
instead of make a resume of this book im
goning to expond the points that for me are realy important and make me reflect
so much.
- is like a president whos called THE BIG
BROTHER (here it comes the idea of the rality show) he have screens for all the
city, including inside of the aparments
and houses. this screens work for hearing and seeing all the poeple do, but
also its onnly one tv chanel to see, you can only heard the music that is
played in there, and have new and information from there.
- the party of the Big brother has three
slogans: PACE IS WAR because of the constant war the pople have afraid se they
stay in peace by not making a rebelation or conspiring against the big brother.
FREEDOM IS SLAVERY; this one is more dificult to explain, i think that is like;
people havent taste the freedom so they think that slavery isnt so bad.
IGNORANCE IS STREIGHT, beacuse all the people are ignorant so government can
make what ever they want with the population so there is the force of the
party.
- is leanguage whos called newspeak and,
this works that you can only talk about this. the words that are not in there
are not allowed to talk.
-there is a memory hole, where it goes all
the information form the past. this because the party is always getting better,
and if they were better in the past we have to foget and lie.
these are a small parts of the importants things
in the book. who knows may be we are not so far from that reality or there is a
near future.
Irma you are absolutely right to have read this book! A lesson in the effects of control for all to know - and it's becoming reality, more and more. Never forget your civil liberties! And let's be grateful that it's 2012 and not 1984....
