Pica Disorder

Pica Disorder.



Pica disorder is a rare foodborne disease which affects a lot of world population overcoat children, these disease could be a consequence of physical health, psychological health or cultural habits.
This eating disorder causes an urgent desire to eat substances not intended for human consumption, such as toothpaste, soap, detergent, condoms, plaster, hair, matches, mud, ice, cigarette butts, shoe polish, dust or dirt, glaze, among others.


Is very common to occur in people with autism or psychiatric illness. There are several types of names for each type of case, for example: Geophagy (eating earth), Trichophagia (eating hair)

Pica Syndrome can cause serious complications and damage to health. Among them we mention the following: poisoning or consumption of lead exposure, intestinal obstructions, parasitic infections and dental injuries.

It is not clearly how pica syndrome appears but there are some theories that said that it appears because some people have bad nutrition or it is because of psychological traumas.

Those who have or believe they are suffering from Pica syndrome should receive immediate medical treatment. The most common treatments used to cure this disease include nutritional supplements, medications to control cravings, stress or depression, psychological counseling, behavior therapy or behavior.

  1. A few days ago i was watching 1000 ways to die and a lady dye because she eat a lot of hair when she painted. i dont know how can people eat hair :(
